Our Mission

Guided by the Blessed Virgin Mary, Star of the Sea, Stella Maris Academy collaborates with parents to form children's minds and hearts. Through pursuit of Wisdom, intellectual and moral formation, our school prepares students to seek truth, act well, and love what is beautiful.

Mission Statement

What is classical education?

Classical education is a centuries old approach which follows the natural development of the child through the arts of Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric.  Throughout every stage, faith and reason remain united. Theology illuminates the unity of knowledge, integrating each academic discipline to help students encounter the order, intelligibility, and beauty of creation.

Grammar (K-2)

In the foundational years, children delight in learning names, facts, stories, songs, poems, prayers, and patterns. Through memorization, recitation, rich vocabulary, mathematical fluency, and attentive observation, students build a treasury of knowledge that prepares them for deeper study.

Logic (3-5)

As students increasingly begin to ask “Why?”, they learn to compare, distinguish, analyze, identify causes, recognize relationships, and reason from evidence. They move from simply knowing facts toward understanding how ideas fit together and how sound arguments work.

Rhetoric (6-8)

In the upper grades, students learn to express what they know with clarity, confidence, and grace. Through writing, discussion, argument, presentation, and close reading, they learn to articulate and defend truth persuasively and charitably.

Why Stella Maris?

“Classical education prepares children for more than their next test or future career - it forms them to think clearly, speak confidently, recognize what is true, and pursue what is good. Through enduring literature, disciplined mathematics and science, the study of history and language, and sustained engagement with art and music, students develop the knowledge, judgment, imagination, and habits of character needed to flourish throughout life.

At Stella Maris Academy,  classical education is inseparable from our Catholic faith. Students encounter the beauty of creation, the wisdom of the Christian tradition, and the dignity of the human person within a community shaped by prayer, virtue, and the sacramental life of the Church. Families choose Stella Maris because they want more than academic achievement: they want their children to grow in wisdom, character, and love for God.”
